Self reflection

Completing these three assignments has been a deeply transformative journey, significantly expanding my architectural skills and understanding. Designing the Nature Observatory Post provided valuable insights into integrating structures with their natural environments. I learned how to balance sustainability, accessibility, and visitor experience, ensuring the design enhanced the connection between people and nature. This project highlighted the importance of context-sensitive design in creating spaces that resonate with their surroundings.

This semester I was also introduced to site analysis. Conducting these analyses was crucial in developing designs that are not only functional but also respectful of their environments. This experience taught me how to consider various factors such as sunlight, soil types, and the larger ecological impact, leading to more informed and holistic design solutions.

The Hideout Retreat project posed its own set of challenges, pushing me to create a functional and comfortable space within a constrained footprint. Balancing the inclusion of essential amenities while striving for a unique and immersive experience required a nuanced approach to design principles, materiality, and constructability. This assignment reinforced the importance of thoughtful planning and innovative solutions in crafting memorable and effective architectural spaces.
